FRA-DXB return economy. Outbound leg with an A340,on the way back a B777-200. Both flights on time, good food and service. Would fly again with Emirates.

SYD-AKL return in First Class. Having already booked GF LON-SYD first class couldn't believe how easy to book from UK the above flight. Stretch limo pick-up hotel, empty check in. We were in fact only 4 people in first! Fantastic seats (777-300), FA fantastic nothing too much. Food very good, maybe not as good as GF and their amazing chefs, but very good. Both flights on time and lounges at SYD and AKL Emirates own. Very new, clean, well stocked. Vintage Dom Perignon in cabin. Overall can't see them any other way but 5 star.

What a disappointment. After hearing the hype around Emirates I have vowed never to fly them again. Flew Economy on first leg SYD - BKK. Where does one start. The seats are extremely uncomfortable and crowded and whilst the in-flight entertainment is exceptional (probably one of the best), it is hard to enjoy when the screen you are watching is merely inches from your face. Whilst Emirates prides itself on having an international crew it is somewhat of a disconnect as they don't seem to communicate with each other freely and know what each other are doing. They also don't seem to abide by any type of responsible service of alcohol policy as they kept serving drinks for the entire 9 hour flight to a group of 3 very intoxicated gentleman who spent the whole flight yelling and abusing other passengers. The flight attendants attempted to quieten the men by talking calmly to them and then offering them more alcohol to shut them up. Way to go Emirates. Facing that debacle we decided to upgrade to business on the return leg. No sleeper seats, a very outdated cabin and my partners seat broke and seized all electrics in both of our seats 1hr out of Bangkok. A lot of money for a very average product and service.

AKL-MEL. Having been upgraded on MEL-AKL to Business class - which was fantastic - noritake china, awesome meal, Godiva chocolates with coffee, full bar service, great IFE, nothing was a problem, returned in economy. Plane was Airbus 340 - much better than the old and slightly dirty Boeing 777 I flew 12 months ago). I found the seat pitch better, plane cleaner. In economy, had to ask for a second round of drinks - slightly robotic response from the FA's. All in all though a pretty good experience. I'd pay the difference to fly business to go to UK from MEL, as the comfort factor is better - however for a 3.5 hour flight, economy is no problem. I must say, having flown other airlines to AKL, Emirates are certainly a better and more comfortable experience. Used their online check in both times, great to get quicker check in and to chose the seat you want to sit in.
