Excellent leg-room in economy class, by far the most room of any airline I have flown with. Slightly disappointed though with the food and overall in-flight service. Return flight from Vegas to Gatwick via Chicago Dec '06.

Sadly I was disappointed with my flight with AA. All the adverts rave about their excellent leg room, however, I was very cramped and could see no difference to the other airlines I have used. I was also unable to get a vegetarian meal. The only good thing about the flight was that it was cheap.

Good flight overall with all planes leaving on time. Planes were clean and well kept however the food was poor in both quality and quantity. Also, the cabin crew seemed to disappear for long periods or could be heard laughing in the galley area rather than attending to the passengers.

Was impressed with the leg room on trans-Atlantic flight. I am over 6 ft tall but found the flight very comfortable. The plane was tidy and well looked after and the in-flight entertainment was up-to-date and interesting. Would fly with again.

Flew AA from Gatwick to Las Vegas Sep '06. Flights on time, planes clean and staff friendly. Booked early so was quite cheap. All in all good service and good value.

Recently flew American Airlines from London to Dallas. Flights were on time and the planes with clean and modern. However, I had to pay for alcoholic drinks. A gin & tonic cost £4. Not what I was expecting after flying BA and Virgin where drinks are free and plentiful. Also, although the food was good we only had 1 main meal and 1 tiny slice of pizza on a 10 hour flight. No snacks at all in between. Also the in-flight entertainment was very poor and kept breaking up. I think from now on I will stick with BA or Virgin.

Was very disappointed on recent AA flight. Flight crew were virtually non-existent as was food and drinks. Not good on an 8 hour flight. I won't be flying with them again after this. Sept '06.

Flew with American to New York from London. Plane was a new 777. The plane was clean and tidy but the in-flight entertainment was awful. Only 3 "new" films (2 of which were animated) plus 1 "classic" film from the 1970's plus a load of ESPN re-runs. Not very good for a ticket costing nearly £400.

Flew American twice in August 2006. Both flights were on time and the crew were friendly and helpful. AA is definitely getting back on track.

Recently had big problems when checking in with American Airlines at Heathrow. I bought my seat on the internet so I didn't have a ticket, just the confirmation email. Have done this numerous times with no problems but on this occasion they had no record of my booking even though I had the confirmation email and an order / invoice number. After about 45 minutes they issued me new details and all was OK. Not sure if this was an AA fault or a Heathrow problem but it was very uncomfortable trying to resolve the issue with all the increased security and questions that were directed at me.
